It is necessary to establish technologies for the separation and recovery of carbon dioxide in exhaust gases emitted by various plants and transport vehicles based on adsorption phenomena. Promoting carbon dioxide adsorption utilizing sound has attracted increasing attention. To elucidate the effects of the acoustic excitation on CO2 adsorption, a system for the direct evaluation of the adsorption amount was constructed. The adsorption and desorption characteristics of carbon dioxide physisorption were evaluated using zeolite-coated adsorbents. It is demonstrated that acoustic excitation can enhance physisorption using monolith-type and plate-type adsorbents coated with zeolite.
